:: First Floor ::
An inviting canopy sheltered entrance on the Beverley Street side is currently occupied by a deli. Since renovation in 1996, it has been occupied by a food service business, and contains a kitchen, handicapped accessible cafe and bathroom, 12' high wood beadboard ceiling, and ample natural light from windows on the front and one side. Heating and cooling are provided by a high efficiency natural gas furnace, and both the gas service and electric service are metered separately. The total area of the deli is just under 1,000 square feet.
On the Central Avenue side, a separate entrance opens into a spacious foyer and original staircase. Access to the first floor tenant at this entrance is from the foyer. Endea Hair Salon has been a tenant since the building opening in 1996. Central heat and air is provided by the high efficiency gas furnace, and utilities are separately metered. The space features 10' high wood beadboard ceiling and a handicapped accessible bathroom. There is also a small kitchen and washer/dryer. An elevator shaft accessible from the foyer was constructed In 1999, and although the elevator has not been installed, the shaft has been preserved to the third floor. Access to the second floor is presently up the wide staircase.
:: Second Floor ::
The entire second floor is leased to the City as office space. My construction company, Community Builders, did the renovation for the previous building owner in 1999. Again, heating and cooling are provided by a high efficiency natural gas furnace, and gas and electric services are separately metered and paid by the tenant. There are several individual offices, conference room, receptionist area, two baths, a kitchenette, wood beadboard ceilings, and hardwood floors. Natural light is abundant with large windows on two sides.
:: Third Floor ::
At the top of the staircase is a small foyer and two doors. One is a studio apartment that could be rented or maintained as a guest suite. It has a full kitchen, tile shower, washer/dryer, a large window on the rear of the building, and refinished original heart pine floors. The other entrance opens up to the primary apartment, with a large open floor plan and expansive windows facing East and South. The design and materials are very unique and highly customized. The gourmet kitchen features custom built cabinets, commercial applicances, and stainless steel counters. Floors throughout are original heart pine that have been refinished. Although it is an open floor plan, the spaces are defined by changes in the celling. The one of a kind polished concrete and stainless steel dining table is centered under an 8' diameter cylinldrical cathedral ceiling. The space flows with curved walls, high ceilings, deep window sills, extensive tile work, and high end fixtures, hardware, and custom wood work. A pull down stair and lockable hatch provides access to the roof: a great place to relax and enjoy the views. It is the perfect contemporary space for an urban lifestle in the wonderfully preserved city of Staunton. Download a floor plan here....
